King Pony

King Pony is an American roots/rock band formed in 2011 in Harlem, NY that represents the meeting point at which cultural movements converge resulting is deeply personal, soul-stirring music. Upon arrival in New York, future members of King Pony, Pascal Le Boeuf (vocals & vintage keyboards), Leon Boykins (acoustic & electric bass) and Jake Goldbas (drums & percussion) were scouted by jazz vocalist Allan Harris and over the course of a two year residency at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club, the Harlem based roots trio developed a unique musical connection by combining their eclectic backgrounds with a shared respect for the nuances of sound and communication-based interaction in live music.
Recent performances include the Umbria Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Manchester Craftsman’s Guild in Pittsburgh, PA and the Civic Center in Dodge City, Kansas. Additionally, King Pony frequently partners with associated artists such as Third Story, Grace Weber, Julia Easterlin and Jesus On the Mainline to present collaborative concerts.
Fresh off a 40-date American Mid-West tour with seasoned jazz/soul vocalist Allan Harris, King Pony released their debut self titled album, which features a collection of original songs that explore the nuances of complex relationships ranging from tender ballads to dance-driven instrumental improvisations. They are joined by a distinguished cast of guest guitarists including Billy Norris (Gavin DeGraw), Armand Hirsch (Bobby Mc Ferrin), and Adam Levy (Norah Jones).
